Dear Friend,
Perhaps you’ve heard that nearly half a million shipping containers are stuck on cargo ships awaiting entry to ports off the coast of California. Maybe you’ve also seen headlines that suggest this poses a “threat to the Holidays”, as if the goods sitting atop the giant ships represent the essence of the holiday season. Here at Child Advocates of Nevada County, we are reminded every day that there are endless opportunities to embrace the spirit of love and generosity on behalf of vulnerable children in our own community. We do not need to wait for faraway ships to be unloaded, when the most meaningful gifts to be given can be found right here where you live.
Thanks to donors like you, in 2020 we provided a CASA volunteer for every single abused/neglected infant and child who was placed into foster care in Nevada County. Scores of struggling new parents from Truckee to Penn Valley were matched with Home Visitors to receive the services, support, and resources they needed to raise their children in healthy and safe homes, free from abuse and neglect. We rely on the generosity of caring community members like yourself to help us sustain these vital services, now more than ever.
The reality is that Child Advocates, like most non-profits, has faced serious financial challenges over the last year and a half. We have had to cancel our two largest annual fundraisers once again this year due to the ongoing challenges and limitations of holding large events while following COVID-19 safety protocol and mandates. If you've ever considered becoming a monthly donor, now is a great time to do so. A small monthly contribution can have a real impact over the course of a year or more.
A tax-deductible contribution on behalf of a friend or relative makes a meaningful and unique holiday gift for anyone on your list. The gift of support for a vulnerable child in our community will be delivered without delay, unlike the goods idling on cargo ships in the Pacific Ocean.
As I reflect on the challenges of the last year, I am deeply grateful for your support of our work. Wishing you a healthy and happy holiday season from my family to yours.
Warmly, Executive Director Child Advocates of Nevada County
If you can donate please accept our heartfelt thanks for your gift!
In addition to a letter in the mail that you'll receive as record of your tax deductible gift, we'll be sharing more information about how your support is helping Child Advocates in the future.
We can't thank you enough for being a hero to the most vulnerable children and families in Nevada County.
