Child Advocates of Nevada County
Services that empower and protect
Marina has lived and worked in Nevada County for the last 15 years. She received a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) in 1995 and has been working in support of children and families since that time.
Prior to joining Child Advocates of Nevada County, Marina was the Project Director of Nevada County’s successful Safe Schools Healthy Students Initiative that increased access to mental health services for students, opened three family resource centers with co-located social services, and implemented an evidence-based curriculum in ten school districts to support the social-emotional health of students.
Marina lives in Nevada City with her husband and two children.
A background in education and college counseling led Jane to the team at Child Advocates of Nevada County. After earning her Master of Education degree at Southern Oregon University, Ms. Houston worked in public and private education, and opened a college counseling business.
She is passionate about supporting Court Appointed Special Advocates in seeking the best interests of abused and neglected children. Jane enjoys spending time with family, listening to music, watching movies, walking, and slaying (almost) all competitors in ping-pong.
